Eleanor (Petie) Van Everen, 79, of Lafayette, CO died peacefully on October 20, 2014. Petie was born February 28 (1935) in Beverley, MA and raised with two older sisters (Ruthie and Elizabeth) by her wonderful parents Eleanor and Maurice Goodridge. She worked at the Appalachian Mountain Club in New Hampshire where she met the love of her life, Brooks Van Everen. After receiving her degree in Physical Education at the University of New Hampshire, she married her sweetheart on August 17, 1957. Petie worked as a physical Education teacher and a ski instructor for many years. Due to her love of being outdoors, working with others and sharing her enthusiasm of skiing, she spent 40 years at Eldora Mountain Resort. She coordinated the women’s ski program and was recognized for her conscientious and kind hearted approach to helping others. Petie loved being with her family; especially her eight grandchildren, but loved her husband most of all. She also, of course, loved the many golden retrievers that were in her life. Her four children Barry, Doug, Mark, and Heather, her eight grandchildren, and two sisters survive her. A celebration of life will be held at Chautauqua Hall on November 9, 2014 at 12:00pm.
