OH Association 75th Anniversary Reunion

to Feature an Illustrated Program
by Guy Gosselin and Sue Hawkins
Among the White Hills
The Life and Times of Guy L. Shorey

New and improved Location, an extravagant buffet dinner and an outstanding presentation on White Mountain photographer Guy Shorey and all at a REDUCED PRICE!

That's what your OHA Steering Committee has lined up for January 22, 2000. Our new location is The Crestview in Woburn, MA just a mile and a half off of I-93 (see directions below). This is close to the junction of I-93 and I-95 which makes it very centrally located for OH coming from any direction.

We'll start the festivities at 5:00 p.m. with Happy Hour. There will be a lavish spread of hors d'oevres and plenty of cold Sam Adams. We're asking everyone to bring two or three slides of the huts, crews mountains. etc. We'll tray them up for projection on the big screen during Happy Hour. Make sure your name is on each slide so we can return them to you at the end of the evening.

At 6:30 we'll sound the dinner gong and feast on a full buffet with roast beef, lasagne and assorted side dishes. With dinner under our belts but room for coffee and desert, we'll get the business meeting out of the way and then present this year's award winners. Mac Stott has a special surprise for us which will be showcased complete with musical accompaniment.

Book Jacket Then its on to a magnificent presentation on Guy Shorey, the Gorham photographer who chronicled Gorham, the White Mountains and the early days of the Hut System over the first half of the twentieth century. Our presenters will be Special Member Guy Gosselin of Mount Washington Observatory fame and Susan Hawkins, educator and grandaughter of Guy Shorey who together complied a collection of photos and wrote the narrative in a handsome book published in 1998 by the Obs. Shorey packed his cameras into the mountains and the huts to capture some wonderful images and the comments from Guy and Sue will give the projected images historical context in what were exciting years.

On the occasion of our 75th anniversary, we have invited the members, trustees and staff of the Obs to join us, an appropriate time for our two organizations to come together for an evening of socializing and to recognize Guy and Sue for their significant contribution in preserving this part of White Mountain history.

That's the rundown on what promises to be a memorable evening but wait, it gets even better. We're rolling the price back this year to the old tarriff of $25.00. That's right $25.00 for the whole deal! Current OH crews can take an additional $5.00 discount courtesy of the Association and we're welcoming all of the OH crew from the last 5 years who qualify as starving artists, returned volunteers from the Peace Corps or anyone who hasn't made a fortune from Day Trading or E-business to join us FREE for Happy Hour (surely you can afford the price of a beer!)

But you have to send in your reservation with the dough RIGHT NOW! We have plenty of space but we've got to give the cooks a count by January 12, so hurry up and send in your rez. Walkins will be charged an additional $5.
